Worship

We celebrate the gift of God's love for us through Jesus Christ. We sing, pray, listen to God's Word and share Holy Communion every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. All people, including children, are welcome to receive Holy Communion.

Special Events

For Christmas and Easter seasons, we have special worship services such as Candlelight Services on Christmas Eve, Children's Christmas program, Easter pancake breakfast and beautiful music programs. See the home page for details on worship and events.

Inter-Christian and Interfaith Events

Our congregation has an open and receptive culture towards inter-Christian and interfaith dialogue. We enjoy working together with our partners in faith. We participate in various educational and social activities with our local Anglican and United churches. We are actively engaged in Christian-Jewish dialogue.

Education

We believe that education is an essential part of personal and spiritual growth for people of all ages. Children are welcome to attend our Sunday School which has a structured curriculum and enthusiastic teachers.  Confirmation is a two-year program covering the basics of faith for young people.  Adult Education is a time for study and discussion in which we explore issues of faith and life.

These and other opportunities for learning help us to discover God's boundless love for us, and help us grow in faith.

Our Vacation Bible School held each August gets great reviews. Bible stories are retold with themes that make them relevant to the everyday lives of children ages 3-12. The children enjoy many lively activities including drama, music, arts and crafts, games and storytelling. Each day, tasty, healthy snacks are provided and a highlight of the week is a closing program to which parents are invited. All children are welcome to join this great educational program.

Young at Heart

This is an active program that welcomes members of the congregation as well as residents from the neighbourhood. The Young at Heart meet weekly (September to June) on Wednesday afternoon for discussion, guest speakers, travelogues, theme luncheons, entertainment, games, coffee and a social hour.

St. Ansgar Foundation

The St. Ansgar Foundation fund is used to apply significant improvements around the St. Ansgar Lutheran Church. Recently a significant portion of the St. Ansgar Foundation fund went towards the "Access For All" building project to allow access to all sections of the church for those who may have difficulty with stairs. Typically each year the interest accrued on the fund is used to help the needy.  In the past the Toronto Food Bank has received monetary donations. For more information about the St. Ansgar Foundation Fund, please the contact church office.
