The symbols in this 4th panel remind us of today’s urgent and pressing global concerns, especially the need for peace in our world (symbolized by the dove) and the degradation of our natural environment (symbolized by the globe and the leaves). In today’s world, being a Christian means being committed to bringing about peace: it means praying for peace as well as acting as peacemakers in our relationships with others. As well, our Christian calling means working to heal our environment by reducing pollution, practicing recycling and acting responsibly to take care of the earth. The possibilities for action are so many! These global concerns challenge us as Christians today to act in very specific, concrete ways as faithful stewards of God’s creation.
